Society Profile

The Society was formed in 1956. Currently it has about 300 members who are private medical practitioners with higher medical qualifications. The following non-surgical specialties are represented: Internal Medicine (with various subspecialties), Paediatrics, Psychiatry, Radiology, and Family Medicine. About 300 doctors join as associate members.

The objectives of the Society are:

(i) To promote fellowship among physicians in private practice who are specialists in Internal Medicine or any branch of Internal Medicine.
(ii) To encourage a high standard of medicine and medical ethics among members.
(iii) To promote and exchange scientific knowledge and practical experience among members.


The Society holds over 20 functions (total exceeds 50 hours) annually usually in the form of lectures or other forms of scientific meetings.
